Project Context: Observation and noticing one's surroundings is an important part of being a designer / illustrator. Every day, we are bombarded with huge amounts of information. We are also influenced by what we experience in our environments and surroundings. For a visual practitioner, drawing and mark making are essential in developing visual literacy and inspiration can be found anywhere, but it can sometimes be difficult to find focus. There are so many ways to document and record what is observed and experienced, as well as how to use the information to create work and visually communicate.

Project Description: In this project, you will explore different ways of observing, drawing, mark making and visualising. You are asked to thoroughly observe the world around you and magnify your surroundings. You will zoom in, to notice every mark, trace and detail, then evidence your findings through drawing, photographing, recording and collecting. The findings will be used as a starting point for experimentation with different materials and techniques, to create a series of outcomes, including GIF animations and wearables. It is important that you keep an open mind in relation to what illustration and drawing is and can be!
